Fashion Styling Exclusive:  The New York Experience

Get ready Charlotte !!! The New York Fashion World is coming to town.
And they want to teach you everything they know.

Famed and award-winning New York City professionals: photographer Michael Creagh (www.michaelcreagh.com) and wardrobe stylists Barbara Berman and Adrienne Weinfeld-Berg, with professional clients and credits from Elle Magazine, Issac Mizrahi, Vera Wang, Valentino, Disney, MTV, The Hills, Project Runway, New York Fashion Week, Parsons School of Design, The Fashion Institute of Technology and many, many more, will be in town to teach a hands-on wardrobe styling (think Rachael Zoe) and photography workshop.

WHAT WILL YOU DO AT THE WORKSHOP:

The Photography Students will work one on one and in small groups with Michael.  After a brief time of classroom training, the workshop turns into an actual photo shoot.   The photography students will scout for a location to set up all the equipment (Michael is bringing cameras, computers, lights, screens, etc.)  They will then team up with the stylists to create the “look” of the shoot and observe Michael taking pictures.  The students then become the photographer running the shoot and taking pictures with Michael’s camera and/or their own.  A CD of their work is provided as part of the workshop fee.

The wardrobe styling students will work one on one and in small groups with Adrienne and Barbara.

The first part of the workshop is in the classroom where the students will learn industry skills: garment prepping, model fittings, accessorizing and editing looks to tell a story, building backstage vocabulary. Next comes the part where the students will become stylists for the day. They are given a “look” to create. They will then select and style the wardrobe, direct the team of make-up artists and professional hair stylists (Provided by Modern Salon and Spa) to create the look for their models. They will help direct the photo shoot and complete the process by writing the fashion credits. A CD with pictures of their work is provided as part of the workshop fee.

Throughout the workshop, the professionals will share with the participants the “real world” of a career in the fashion business – what jobs exist, where to find them and the educational requirements.  They will also share professional stories- what it is like to shoot for fashion magazines, work with super models, be a fashion journalist, work on Project Runway, do styling for designers and celebrities, and work 45 shows in 7 days for New York Fashion week!

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:

Anyone who enjoys fashion or photography – young and, “Not as young as I used to be.”

The participants will be divided in groups based on age and interest level and taught separately.
